Chocolate Cream Pie Marathon & 50K

Saturday, November 28, 2020

Run the Ghost of Seattle course on the first marathon course I ever ran when I was 17 years old back in 1979.

We will start at Seward Park and run the loop first before heading out to the turn around,  East Pike St and Lake Washington Blvd.  This is a double out and back course.  I will have an aid station set up at the start and it will also be available at the half way point.  The park is currently closed so you will have to park outside the park on the streets.

Enjoy Chocolate Cream pie when you finish.

Day 3 - Chocolate Cream Pie Route - AKA Ghost of Seattle

Mapmyrun has a feature that if you load the link onto your phone it will show you a map and help you stay on course.  You may want to download Mapmyrun app to your phone and then load the route so you can access it on race day.

If you know the Ghost of Seattle course, then run it.  We are just starting at Seward Park and running a loop, then an out and back and then repeat for the marathon.

The map my run directions will keep you on the trail (or Lake Washington Blvd) to the turn around.

You will likely need to park outside of Seward Park.  The bathrooms should be open.

Start at the opening of the park, South Juneau St and Lake Washington Park S. and run clockwise around the park.  This gives you a better view of Mt. Rainier if the weather cooperates.  Once you leave the park, stay on the trail until it brings you up to Lake Washington Blvd.

Stay on Lake Washington Blvd. to the turn around just past Madrona Park.  After you leave Madrona Park you will run past the bus turn around and just before the road heads uphill, beyond E. Pike St. is the turn around for the half and the marathon.  If you are doing the 50K, instead of going up the hill you get to do two extra loops at Seward Park.

Return to Seward Park where we will have water and snacks.  Seward Park loop plus a single out and back for the Half.  For the marathon when you return to Seward Park after your first out and back, run the park loop before you complete your second out and back.  For the 50K you get to do two extra loops of Seward Park (so four total) so that you can turn around where the marathoners turn around at the bottom of the hill, just past E. Pike St.
